The Head Of The Charles Directors' Challenge sculling events gives experienced rowers a unique opportunity to row the legendary 3-mile course twice during Regatta weekend. Funds raised by all Directors' Challenge entrants will contribute to the permanent endowment of the Head Of The Charles Regatta, to ensure the longevity of one of the greatest outdoor festivals in the world.
There are five Directors' Challenge events at the 2009 Head Of The Charles Regatta:
Directors' Challenge Doubles (2x) events
Saturday (10/17/09)
Entry Fee & donation are $500 per Double
(of which $280 is tax-deductable, as HOCR is a 501c3 organization)
This is the fifth year of the Director Challenge sculling events, and the second year of the Parent/Child Double event--which has garnered considerable buzz again this year, as only 5 slots remain open (as of publish date). There is a limit to all Directors' Challenge events, so it is best to enter early to ensure your spot in these competitive-yet-fun Head Of The Charles events.
After much review, the age handicaps for Directors' Challenge Quad participants are now even more accurate, as they are based on long distance races developed by the esteemed British Rowing Almanac (formerly ARA--Amateur Rowing Association). Thanks to the diligent work of Head Of The Charles' Chief of Rules, John Lambert, you can ascertain your age handicap here.
In addition to bragging rights-even for those who win their event, regardless of age handicap-all Directors' Challenge entrants will receive a Head Of The Charles' red sports cap and a commemorative photo of them rowing the course, courtesy of the Regatta, from SportsGraphics.com.
